How the model works
In an agentic finance design, an AI agent may propose or operate a strategy, but it should not be treated as having unrestricted authority over deposited assets. Vault logic, strategy constraints, review mechanisms and user permissions determine what can happen in practice.
- Strategy proposal: an agent defines a plan within a stated set of rules.
- Review and checks: the system’s documented review process evaluates the proposal before execution.
- Vault execution: smart contracts enforce the permissions and constraints they are actually coded to enforce.
- Monitoring: users should review ongoing activity, exposure, withdrawal conditions and protocol updates.
What are guardians?
Project materials describe guardians as a staked review layer intended to add accountability to strategy approvals. The exact incentives, duties, challenge process and penalties should be read in current documentation; the word “guardian” alone does not guarantee safety.
What should users evaluate?
- Smart-contract audit scope and unresolved findings.
- Which networks and third-party protocols a strategy can touch.
- How deposits and withdrawals work under normal and emergency conditions.
- What happens if an agent behaves unexpectedly or a market moves sharply.
- Whether guardian review is mandatory and what recourse exists after a bad decision.
Risk is still present
AI-managed strategies can be exposed to smart-contract vulnerabilities, market risk, liquidity constraints, oracle failures, bridge or network issues and operational mistakes. A reviewed strategy can still lose money. Read documentation before connecting a wallet or depositing assets.
FAQ
Does AI make DeFi safer?
Not automatically. Safety depends on system design, limits, contracts, review quality, external dependencies and how the strategy behaves under stress.
